During a recent project aimed at upgrading the Boiler house at the Mondelez Marlbrook site, Factory Plant Projects executed a comprehensive turnkey removal and installation operation.
FPP’s approach entailed a strategic combination of Versa-lifts and hydraulic jacking and skating equipment to meticulously remove the obsolete 40-tonne boilers. A full contract lift was executed by FPP for the removal of the redundant chimney stack.

To facilitate the safe removal of the chimney stack, FPP proficiently employed high-reach Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWPs), granting access to the pinnacle of the chimney structure for rigging purposes. Once the initial section was successfully detached, FPP employed a versa-lift in conjunction with a crane to deftly transition the chimney segment from a vertical to a horizontal orientation.

In addition to the intricate removal and installation aspects, FPP efficiently managed a comprehensive waste disposal operation. This encompassed all requisite measures, including the provision of notifications for abnormal load transport pertaining to the oversized, redundant boilers. Notably, our waste disposal procedures adhere to the highest standards of accountability, with meticulous documentation accompanying each disposal process.

As a culminating phase of the project, FPP returned to perform the installation of new replacement boilers, seamlessly concluding the assignment to the utmost satisfaction of our valued customer.

Factory Plant Projects executed a plant room tank installation on a bustling construction site in Leeds. Collaborating closely with the principal contractor and our client, FPP adeptly orchestrated the seamless transportation of the tanks across the site to the designated plant room wall opening.

Utilising compact package gantries, FPP skilfully conveyed the tanks through a staggered height opening in the plant room wall. With precision, we rotated the tanks from a horizontal to a vertical orientation and positioned them securely within the confines of the plant room. This meticulous process was replicated for the remaining tanks.

This project serves as a testament to FPP’s capacity to harmonize its operations with the demands of a bustling construction site, effectively addressing the unique challenges posed by large-scale construction projects. It underscores our proficiency in establishing productive relationships with fellow contractors and site management, ensuring the project’s timely completion without conflicts or disruptions.

Factory Plant Projects were entrusted with the role of the lifting contractor for a significant brewery tank installation, marking the most substantial project of its kind since the 1960s. The paramount objective for FPP encompassed meticulous coordination of tank components to ensure seamless alignment with the construction schedule, avoiding any potential delays in the build program.

Given the spatial constraints on-site, FPP played a pivotal role in collaborating with the construction team, ensuring a consistent provision of lift and shift support throughout the project’s lifecycle. Through strategic engagement with our network of proficient subcontractors, FPP adeptly employed specialized Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT) for the conveyance of fully assembled tank sections from the on-site assembly area to the designated installation entablature.

FPP provided a full contract lift solution for our esteemed client. Our adept utilization of heavy cranage enabled us to execute lifts with a maximum weight of 28,450kg, at an impressive radius of 31.0m.
The intricate nature of the tank construction process necessitated a unique approach: the assembly of conical sections in an inverted orientation. Within the scope of the installation, FPP meticulously planned and executed a tandem lift for the rotation of the conical sections, facilitated by our proficient lifting supervisors. Clear and constant communication was upheld, facilitating the seamless rotation and precise positioning of all eight conical tank sections within the designated tank entablature.

Consistent with our methodology, FPP replicated the successful approach in conveying the eight tank shells to the installation entablature. Each tank shell was supported during the fastening to the conical section, ensuring the precision alignment essential for the overall installation.
The project’s completion stands as a testament to FPP’s unwavering commitment to delivering complex endeavours with utmost professionalism and precision, ultimately contributing to the successful realization of our client’s vision.

The task of removing and replacing 2 chiller packs each weighing 8,000kg was the order of the day at a sensitive HSBC Data centre.

The plant room is located in the basement of the data centre and accessed via a ramped access gangway and to add a further challenge the gangway floor is finished in ceramic tiles.

Working for our client Dornan Engineering Services one of our lift and shift teams with jacking and skating equipment were engaged on this operation.

Polyethylene ‘Track Mats’ were firstly installed to act as tile protection.

Each chiller was then negotiated up and down the ramp utilising anchored tirfor winches to act as motive force and load control for each chiller on the ramp.

To complete the service the offloading and loading of each chiller pack was undertaken utilising one of our hiab crane mounted vehicles.

We were invited to tender by Cofely Industrial Energy to provide Managed Contract lifts over a number of visits to ingress and place 2 – Boilers 11,000kg each, 1 – CHP Engine 9,200kg, 3 – Trane chillers 9,600kg each and 1 Thermax Chiller 5,500kg to positions within the basement plant room of the New Birmingham Library.

This was an exceptionally challenging site amidst Centenary Square one of the busiest area’s in the City and, like many, had a challenging construction programme to deliver against.

Access to the site was severely restricted, steel road plates were deployed to protect the pedestrian walkway and significant shoring up of the underside of the boiler house floor was carried out in order to withstand the axle loadings imposed by the Versalift rigging truck.

With each item stripped of its auxiliary components, our 40-60 Versalift was just able to complete each lifting operation into the basement plant room utilising special ‘low headroom’ spreader beams designed and procured by us during the planning phase for the job.

In developing a safe system of work coupled with the specific skills and capabilities of the install team we once again demonstrated that we are well versed in the requirements needed to deliver for our customers.
